A Message from Changing Focus’ President:
This is my inaugural message to all members and friends of Changing Focus. I was elected President by the Board of Directors during the March 2010 meeting. I am honored to have been selected to assist with the mission of this fine organization. I look forward to working with our Board and our new Executive Director as we continue to make Changing Focus a safe haven for those in need of support.
Changing Focus has provided me with countless benefits and blessings. One of which is the opportunity to meet and make many new friends and acquaintances. For those that I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I have been a member for over seven years and associated with the Board in one capacity or another for almost seven years. I have served as your Vice-President for the past several years. In other words, I am committed to this effort.
Jeanne Ward was elected your new Vice-President. Jeanne needs no further introductions as so many of you know her. She is a generous, tireless supporter of all aspects and functions of Changing Focus. Jeanne’s dedication is a perfect testimony to the past successes and bright future for this organization.
Your Board of Directors is a highly talented and motivated assembly. They continue to amaze me with their enthusiasm and dedication to our mission. They contribute a lot of time and concern that is beneficial for all of us. Seek them out when you get the opportunity to do so and thank them for their efforts.
Several significant changes have been instituted during 2010 designed to dramatically improve organizational efficiencies and to maximize the stewardship of the time and treasure that our members continue to provide. As previously mentioned, we have appointed an Executive Director to execute day-to-day operations and, more importantly, to restructure our administrative process. Our past President, Rita Fullem, has accepted this position. Rita’s dedication and talents as President are greatly appreciated and are still very much in force since she has transitioned to her new position. Numerous improvements have been put in to place in a very short period. More are on the way and you will be notified of those in the near future.
Please allow me to use this venue to also thank you for your participation in one or more of the various programs provided by Changing Focus. We hope and trust that your life has been positively influenced as a result of the guidance offered by our professional coordinators and interaction with a peer group coping with a personal crisis similar to yours.
I opened the March Board meeting by commenting about the resiliency and dedication of so many individuals that have contributed so much to allow us to be there for those who need us. Such dedication is the essential element for our future. For the over thirty years, Changing Focus has been a beacon of hope for countless individuals. As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on each participant - both former and current - for financial support to continue to provide for those in need of assistance. Without this support, we would cease to exist. These contributions are used to pay the salaries of the licensed professional therapists who conduct the weekly sessions.
Please take a few moments to reflect on the benefits you have experienced as part of Changing Focus. Your financial support will be rewarded with the continuation of these benefits. As always, contributions of funds and time will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your past and future support. If you have any questions or comments, please let us know by contacting the office or attending a future board meeting.
Best Regards and Wishes,
Mike Flint
